part of the road

The Lord sweetly reminded me of His love, faithfulness, and sovereignty as I was driving on the interstate on the way to Auburn - on a normal day, in the downpour rain, hardly being able to see the road.

No matter where we go in life we are always connected to the interstate. Little towns or cities, you can always get back to the interstate if you need to, and it will take you to another town, or hub per se. You might not know how long or what city you are necessarily going to, but it's off the interstate (the VINE). Catching on?

Also, he was showing me that the interstate isn't always the same for everyone. For example, it was down-pouring on me, yet up ahead I could see a break in the clouds and sun shining down on the cars, and they could actually see the road- I couldn't. I was anxious to get to that part in the road. I was having such a hard time seeing where I was going. Isn't this the same with our walks sometime? We are in the rain, and we wish we were in the sun? However, the Lord has us in the rain for a reason. A reason we can't ignore, and wish away. There are seasons in our lives when we need the rain, and there are seasons in our lives when we need the sun.

It's all a part of the process to get us where we need to be. Oswald Chambers sums it up well,

‎"We must never put our dreams of success as God's purpose for us. The question of getting to a particular end is a mere incident. What we call the proccess, God calls the end. His purpose is that I depend on Him and on His power now. It is the process not the end, which is glorifying to God."

It encouraged me to focus on the part of the road I'm on now, and not miss the treasures & blessings the Lord has for me at this time. He is so faithful, and He will get me to my exit when I need to be there. But until then, I'm learning to embrace the journey (and even the some-what nasty rest stops in the middle)...
